STANLEY CUP LITTLE KNOWN FACTS!! Did you know that the Stanley as we know it, was awarded to the NHL Playoff Winner only since 1963? The original trophy was retired in 1962. (picture) NHL president Clarence Campbell believed that the original Cup had become too brittle. So, a new cup was designed to become the Stanley Cup that hockey fans across the world know and love. To authenticate the real cup, there is a Hockey Hall of Fame seal on the bottom. The original Stanley Cup is displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. In my presentation “The NHL and Me” I speak about the NHL past and present paralleled with stories from my own career.
